Dumpster Downers PLEASE KEEP OUR COMMUNITY CLEAN!

Dumpsters are provided throughout the community for your waste disposal. Pick up is twice per week every Monday and Thursday morning. Please help to keep these areas clean and smell to a minimum by disposing of your trash on or as close to the evening prior.
When you get rid of trash properly, less litter is scattered around the community, and our community stays clean and sanitary.

PLEASE properly bag and tie your trash and place the bags INSIDE the dumpster!

If the dumpster nearest your building is full... please walk a short distance to the next dumpster and dispose of garbage there. NEVER leave trash outside the container. Call the office and we will arrange for an extra pick up if all dumpsters are full!

If you have household appliances or furniture to dispose of contact the office and we will arrange for pick up of these items for you.
DO NOT PLACE THESE LARGE ITEMS INSIDE OR AROUND THE DUMPSTER AREA. PLEASE.

Town Center Management staff provides free pest control service to residents and diligently works throughout the year to get keep unhealthy insects, and or rodents out of our community. This will only work if you do your part to keep your neighborhood clean.
Please help your Management Staff and the sanitation service company to keep dumpster areas clean and costs down.
Do not block access to dumpsters and if you see the gates open, close them.

Please do not put food outside for cats, birds, or any other type of animal. Food will attact problems such as feril cats and pigeons. They carry mites and their droppings can transmit a variety of diseases.

Energy Saving Tips From SRP

It's that time of year again, our temperatures are rising daily and we will soon hit those dreaded triple digit temps.

Below are some highlights from SRP on energy saving ideas which will help keep your cooling and overall electric costs down this summer.

NO COST WAYS TO SAVE ON ENERGY COSTS
  1. Leave draperies closed during the day to help keep out the heat.
  2. Leave the air vents open in your home. Closing air vents can create pressure imbalances resulting in increased air conditioning costs.
  3. Set your thermostat between 78 to 80 degrees when you are home and up to 85 degrees when you are away. For every degree you set your thermostat above 80 degrees, you can save approximately 2 to 3% on cooling costs.
  4. Set your air conditioning fan to "auto." This reduces the negative impact of improper air balances and turns the fan motor off when the unit is not cooling. Using "auto" rather than "on" can save you $15 to $25 each month on your energy costs.
  5. Replace disposable air filters once a month. A dirty filter forces your equipment to work harder, causing higher energy bills. Air Filters are provided free of charge at the office, stop in to pick one up, or request our maintenance team to replace it by calling in a service request.
  6. Take short showers instead of baths. A five-minute shower typically uses less than 15 gallons of water while a bath can use 30 to 40 gallons.
  7. Approximately 90% of the energy used to wash clothes goes to heating water. Save money by washing as many loads as possible in cold water.
  8. Set your water heater thermostat to 120 degrees. Turning the thermostat down from 140 degrees to 120 degrees can save up to $7 per month.
  9. Fill washer tub with the least amount of water necessary.
  10. Check the door gaskets on both the refrigerator and freezer to make sure they are in good shape and form tight seals. Close the door on a dollar bill. If you can remove the bill without feeling any friction or tightness, you may need to replace your gasket.
  11. Clean the coils on the bottom or back of the refrigerator several times a year to keep the unit operating properly.
  12. Dry consecutive loads to take advantage of the heat stored in your dryer.
  13. Combine clothes that require approximately the same amount of drying time so that you don't over-dry your clothes.•Clean the lint filter after each dryer load.
  14. Avoid adding heat and humidity to your home during the hottest part of the day by running your washer and dryer during the early morning or late evening during the summer.
  15. Run your dishwasher on a full load.
  16. Run your dishwasher during the cooler parts of the day (early morning or late evening) when your air conditioner will have to work less to reduce the added heat and humidity from dishwashing.
  17. Don't preheat the oven longer than necessary.
  18. Don't preheat your oven for long cooking foods and turn off the oven 15 minutes prior to completion.
  19. Leave the oven door closed during cooking. Each time you open the door, you lose about 25 to 50 degrees of heat.
  20. Prepare your foods when the kitchen is the coolest, usually during the early morning.
  21. You can get the most out of your oven or range by using it to capacity. If possible, cook everything at the same time.
 LOW COST WAYS TO SAVE ON ENERGY COSTS


  1. Help your air conditioner by doing moisture-producing chores, such as washing clothes and dishes or mopping floors in the early morning or at night when it is cooler. If you are on SRP's Time-of-Use price plan, doing laundry during the off-peak hours will help you save money.
  2. Run the exhaust fan while cooking to force hot air and pollutants out of the kitchen.
  3. Use the bathroom fan to remove the heat and humidity from your home when you shower or take a bath. Remember to turn it off when you are finished.

A Soldier Coming Home - Heartwarming Story

As we near Memorial Day, a day set aside to commemorate U.S. men and women who have died while serving in our military armed forces, I'd like to share a story I first shared back in November of 2009.

Nov. 15, 2009:
So yesterday at my apartment community I got to see one of the most unexpectedly touching things. I have to share.
My asst manager, leasing agent and I were sitting in the office discussing the weather and deciding if we should postpone our clean up because of the rain. Just then a limousine pulls in to the main entrance.


We, of course, all gather at the window to see who is arriving or departing in a limo, in Queen Creek (not an everyday occurance) and we see a family of kids gathered on the sidewalk. I know these kids because they live with their grandparents. We have never met their Mom or Dad.
The limo driver exits the car and walks around to open the back door and out steps a soldier in his fatiques. I’m thinking, oh my goodness, that must be those kid’s Dad, he’s been away at war and we are about to witness his welcome home! I’m getting all choked up and excited and kicking myself for not grabbing my camera, when he starts to walk the opposite direction. What?

As he starts to walk toward one of the buildings, we see the group of kids run after him. We can’t hear what they are saying, but he stops, turns around and they all walk toward each other. He bends down, shakes each of their hands, gives one a hug then waves and goes on.
I wanted to find out who he was, so I went out to catch the kids and ask them. Before I could even get out the door the kids are jumping up and down and and talking so fast I had to concentrate to hear one of them over the other, they were all so excited finally managing to ask me “Did you see that soldier?” He was in the war! He shook our hand!! Did you see? Did you see?” “We just wanted to tell him Thank you, but he even shook our hand!!”


It was the coolest thing. They were so excited to see and meet that soldier, you’d have thought they’d met their favorite celebrity. My heart was gleaming I was so proud of those kids! Now if only we could have known he was coming so we could have had a huge welcome home line.
 
But, man, I hope he was as touched as we were and I hope he felt like a hero! Our soldiers deserve to be revered, and I am pretty excited to see kids in our community with an appreciation for them in their hearts.

Bye Bye Paper... We've Gone Green!!

Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day, Town Center chose the slogan “Go Green - Save Green”

Finding ways not only to save the earth, but also money, the Town Center team reduced concessions the entire month of April, to provide free ceiling fans or CFL bulbs with with each new rental. Existing residents were also encouraged to save green by installing CFL bulbs and ceiling fans.

In addition, we invited residents to share their “Go Green, Save Green” stories. The following are our first eco friendly steps to saving green all year long!

Town Center also made several easy earth-friendly changes. 
  1. Installed CFL bulbs and programmable thermostats in our models.
  2. Reduced use of paper, cost of toner/printer ink, and human resources spent gathering discarded door hangers, by replacing our monthly newsletter with our online blog.
  3. Using vinegar and water instead of non-natural cleaning solutions.
  4. Using cloth reusable cleaning towels instead of paper towels.

  6. Posting a link (live by May 1) to an online “resident's handbook” on our website where residents will be able to access community policies, answers to FAQ, and all the content formerly printed and provided at lease signing, saving more than 10+ printed pages per lease!
  7. Auditing and updating email addresses to all residents to encourage online communications via our blog, Town Center Times.
  8. Supporting a resident organized coupon club to share in money saving shopping tips and tricks.
  9. Supporting reduce, reuse and recycle by contributing and purchasing items at the Greystar Giving Giant Yard Sale event!
  10. Posting a link to online coupons provided by partnering with other Chamber of Commerce members.

Pool Area Enjoyment

It is my hope that the swimming pool and outdoor entertainment area provide an atmosphere of relaxation, safety, and enjoyment by all our residents.

Unfortunately, I have recently received several comments / complaints about activities taking place after hours that put our current policy allowing 24 hour access to the pool in jeopardy.

For that reason, I am posting a friendly but firm reminder to ALL RESIDENTS

Please read the following Pool Rules carefully, take note of any rules you may unknowingly, or otherwise be violating and take action to correct those infractions immediately so that we may continue to offer 24 hour enjoyment of the pool and outdoor entertainment area.

SWIMMING POOL RULES and REGULATIONS:

1. Pool is open 24 hours: Quiet Time is 9 p.m. - 7 a.m. Sunday - Thursday and 10pm - 8 am Fridays and Saturdays.

2. Residents under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. There will be no exceptions.

3. Residents are expected to be in good standing with no outstanding balance owed. Residents not in compliance may be asked to refrain from use of amenities until accounts are current.

4. Food and drinks should be enjoyed in the cabana area only and are not allowed in the pool at any time.

5. Use of the pool when posted as closed by the management staff is strictly forbidden.

6. Management has full authority to suspend or revoke resident use of amenities for any violation of pool regulations, conduct deemed objectionable or compromising the enjoyment of other members.

7. Please shower before entering pool.

8. Pets are strictly prohibited in the pool area.

9. Residents using the pool do so at their own risk.

10. No glassware of any kind may be brought into the pool area.

11. Management reserves the right to close all or part of the pool facilities due to inclement weather, mechanical failures, or any disturbance. The pool will be closed when it's raining.

12. Management reserves the right to limit the number of guests accompanying residents to the pool or fitness center. Priority is given to residents in cases of exceeding occupancy.

13. No entering the facility with illegal substances. Anyone caught will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

14. Everyone wishing to swim must wear proper swim attire.No cutoffs, T-Shirts, underwear.

15. No running on the pool deck.

16. NO DIVING into the pool!

17. Music and television is to be kept at a level not infringing on the relaxation and enjoyment of the area by others.

18. Residents are expected to clean up after use of the pool and grill area. Trash is to be properly disposed of in containers. If the small round containers pool side are full, residents are to dispose of trash in the large refuse bins.

These rules and regulations are subject to change without prior notice at the discretion of Management.

Bottom line, these are your facilities, provided for your enjoyment. Without your help and cooperation, it will not be possible to keep them in the best condition for your use.

I ask that you please do your part, and you have my continued commitment to ensuring our staff is doing ours.

I can't fix what I don't know is broken, so please don't hesitate to bring comments, concerns, or kudos my way! We LOVE our pets here at Town Center and we are proud to be a pet welcoming community. Many of our residents enjoy living at our community with the wonderful company of their beloved pets, but with pet ownership come responsibility.
Are you taking care of your pet "poo" responsibilities? I'd like to take a moment to ask that you please remember that as part of pet ownership privileges here at Town Center, you are required to pick up immediately after your pet "poos" 3
Doing so will ensure the enjoyment of our beautiful community by all. After all, no one wants to step in a pile of poo, and certainly no one wants to smell it.
We are on the lookout and you may be asked to do some "splainin" if you are caught being a "PooPetrator". Poo detectives are on the prowl, so please, let us catch you doing something good and pick up after your precious pets!
